2010 was a year of milestones, culminating in a splendid family reunion on December 31st (New Year's Eve.

After three years in Oxford Dominic was awarded his DPhil. He and Rocci and their growing family returned to Australia, arriving in late December in time for Christmas. Since then they have moved to Adelaide where he will start work as a neonatologist and Associate Professor in the University of Adelaide in February.

After a year away in UK and Canada Matthew and Jane came back on December 31st, travelling via Melbourne before heading back to Brisbane in early January. He started work in Townsville in February, as an orthopedic surgeon, and they moved into their new home there in late January.

Oliver and Vickie returned to Australia at the New Year 2010 and were in Melbourne util  July 2011 - apart from their time in Hawaii for serious sporting action in September / October. Oliver swam the Rottnest Chanel Swim (20 Kms) and the Maui Chanel Swim (16 Kms) and Vickie competed in the Australian and the Hawaii Ironman.

Edward and Caroline came home for a brief Christmas / New Year holiday in December 2010 - returning to Santa Monica early in January 2011. During 2010 Helen and Jim visited them for a week in California before flying on to London to spend some time with Matthew and Jane, who were living in Highgate, and also visiting Oxford to see Dominic and Rocci. All six grandchildren featured strongly in the action during two busy weeks in England. They also caught up with Liz and Ken in Brighton, Jean and John in London and Roger and Anne in Oxford, as well as visiting Mary in Tewkesbury.

A trip to Vancouver in October allowed for some more time with Matt and Jane and their boys, as well as a memorable "Thanksgiving" dinner with Willoughby cousins - descendants of Richard Willoughby (younger brother of WC Willoughby) who emigrated to British Co;umbia in 1906.

In March 2011 Margaret Chaplin celebrated her Golden Jubilee as a Mercy Nun. This milestone
was an excellent excuse for a gathering of the Chaplin family, with four of her brothers and sisters and their spouses. The only members of the younger generation to attend were Oliver and Victoria, but they had left before the photograph was recorded

Oliver's swimming challenges culminated in his spectacular success in the Manhattan Marathon (46 km) record attempt in September 2011 - when he took the World Record.

His own account of the swim and an interview published on the NYC website may be read here.

Christmas 2011 brought another nice family get together, with Dominic and Rocci and their four children. Rocci's mother (Rhonda), grandmother (Joan Gocher), sister (Biilie Jo Fookes) and her newphew (Fausto) were all with us.
